kerchunk!

I have been missing our land.  I find this tea kettle heating water helps in a strange way.  I think it has to do with 180 Degress South.  There is a wonderful tea kettle on a woodstove in the movie.  I can see this in our cabin some day.

Last night I went KERCHUNK!  I was asleep so fast last night I forgot to blog.  I think I am fighting a bug from starting because I seem to sleep at the drop of a hat.  But it is better then being full out sick.  Blogging may be erractic if I continue this trend.  but I would just rather not be sick or under the weather.

I finished laying out Mr. G's quilt as well.  It actually has the same colors as Miss A's but I put the blues in the center.  Different but similar.  That is what I wanted.  I have started working on the back squares already while I am working on Christmas presents.  I have started that process.  There is always too much to do this time of the year but I like it.

Miss A's quilt laid out

Since I got all the nine squares made, it was time to lay out the quilts.  I got the chance to lay out Miss A's quilt this morning, even though I already working on the bits for the back.

Since the quilts are for fraternal twins, I wanted them the same but different.  The prints are all the same with one exception.  This is Miss A's.  I put the pinks in the center and the blues on the edge.  The greens and yellows are scattered through out.  I do like how it turned out.

Now to sew it.  With presents to make, I wonder how long that will take.

for our neighbor's twins

Our neighbors had twins this autumn.  A boy and a girl.  I finished all the nine squares for their quilts today.  I wanted the quilts to have the same fabrics even if the number of squares are different.  I think it is going to be interesting how each turns out because my quilts are always different!  Many of these squares were sewn with a Small Mister on my lap.  He really likes my sewing machine, pins, and scissors.  It is a very slow process when he is "helping."

My Beloved and I took Small Mister out to my quilt fabric store.  They charmed the owner while I picked out fabrics for the backs of the two quilts.

I also found fabric for a casual dress and a just because piece.  The dress will be another one of those high priced European dresses that takes no time at all to make.  This one is more expensive then the one I made with the fabric that was $2 a yard.  It is the green bit up there in the picture.  I just liked it.

Brownie torte is out of the oven.  There is tea on.  I think it is time for dessert.  That makes me smile.

quilting

I have been slowly quilting.  Between the garden, Small Mister, crocheting, and normal life, this is going slower then usual.  Small Mister REALLY likes this quilt.  He goes and sees it every time he is here.  That has been a lot this week because the Tall Short Person had a two day course and work.  He used to be fascinated with the sewing machine and would watch for about a half hour before he wished to put his fingers in it.  Not so any more, especially with the colors in this quilt.

Maybe this weekend, it will be finished.  Then, I have two more in the work already.  Sewing squares.  And a few dresses and shopping bags need to be made too.

Miss K's babe's quilt front and back done

I finished sewing all the bits and pieces of Miss K's babe's quilt together this afternoon.  I have to admit I have never done this bit so fast.  It is a combination of my Beloved has been spending time in the late afternoon and evening working on his knife orders and I just wanted to get this done.  I get frustrated with how long it takes at times.  That is because my sewing is done a lot in ten minute intervals.  Not this time.

I hope to get it "basted" tomorrow.  Then we will be gone to the country for a week.  Quilting will be waiting for me when I get back.
