Miss Lillian's quilt top

Even though I was under the weather, hurt, and went visiting last week, I was able to do some sewing.  I finished Miss Lillian's quilt top.  I am working on the back now.

With the help of small fingers, it turned out well.  Small Mister is truly fascinated by the workings of the sewing machine!

for Miss Lillian

I finished 100 nine squares and laid them out.  It was one of the few quiet times I have had recently where Small Mister was not crawling on the floor.  He likes fabric so it would have been interesting!  This quilt is going to be for Miss Lillian.  I have about half the strips put together right now.

Just lots of sewing going on.

miss isabella's quilt is done

Miss Isabella's quilt is done.  It just needs to be mailed on Friday.

Because that is just really how my life goes.  I actually finished it yesterday but Friday will be the first day that I have free to get the packaging done and a trip to the post office.

I have to admit I really like this back.  I keep thinking I need to make one for myself.  But there are three in my head already:  one for Miss Lillian, one for the babe that will be born in two months if his/her mother slows down (sooner if Miss Katie does not slow done!), and one for a friend, Miss J, who I just thinks needs a bit of cuddle when she is tired though I know she gets a lot of those.

Someday, it will be mine.  I am saving scraps for it already.

p.s. The bruises are magnificent from the technically perfect roll/fall yesterday!  Three year old just kept blowing bubbles and laughing.

no thread

I was working on this quilt Sunday morning.  Quilting.  When I ran out of bobbin thread.  As I filled the bobbins, I ran out of white thread.  I had no more white thread in the house so I went to the fabric store.  It was a good thing I had coupons because I took my Beloved with me.  He is getting a purple kilt out of that trip!

But the funniest piece of the whole day, was that when I told the Tall Short Person I ran out of thread, the look on her face!  How can Momma run out of thread?????  I did not specify white thread.  I just said thread.  She knows I have a whole drawer full so her head just could not get around there was no thread.  I laughed so hard.

I think that explains a lot about my life.  Just like I got a skateboard.  I will probably skate like I surf, not well but loving every minute of it.  I was thinking it would be a lovely way to get to work once the bike path is complete.  Grandma on a skateboard (incredibly BIG grin)!

quilt back

When I got home from work today, it was to find that my Beloved was forging.  I put the kettle on and made myself a cup of tea.  A cup of tea and a cookbook to read was what it took me to undwind.  I will not say I had a hard day at work but the transition from work to home is never an instant thing.

I actually had the time and energy to sit at my sewing machine after my tea.  I finished the back of Miss Isabella's quilt today.  It may be a few days before I get the quilt all pinned together for quilting but this rather pleases me.

It is amazing what a little relaxation brings.
