quilt basting with a small helper

Small Mister and I spent the evening basting a quilt.  He was closer then this most of the time.  I bribed him with my saftey pin container to get this shot.

When I smoothed the quilt before pinning, he pounded it with his open hand.

When I put in a saftey pin, he tried to figure out how it worked by pulling on one already used.

He told me all types of stories and how things worked with wild hand motions and much clapping.  I just wish I could understand what he said.

When I was on my hands and knees pinning, he crawled under me to see what I was doing.  Or on top.  When he was on top, he tried to take the hair sticks out of my chignon.  That was interesting!

When he needed cuddles, he would sit in my lap and I would pin around him.

The basting is done and we had a good evening while the Tall Short Person had to work and Grandpoppa was in his shop grinding on the knives he is making.

the tall short person picked these colors

I finished the nine squares for another quilt today.  My Tall Short Person actually picked these colors a few years back.  It was a stack of fat quarters from Joann's.  She was wanting to make a quilt.  But the person who she was with at the time (and was there for the fabric chosing) is no longer in her life and the fabrics, the way she was putting them together, made it harder.

I accept fabric from anyone.  I do this because that way I get things that are different then what I would chose and makes a different looking quilt.  Which is very nice!

I would never had picked them and I would never had a quilt that looked like this come through my life.  I have to admit it was a bit hard putting laying this out this morning.  I fell hard during my skating lesson last night and still hurt.  It was a fall from almost a stand still and those really hurt the worse.  I knocked myself silly a bit.  I found the getting up and down was making my stomach upset.

And my helper was no help!  Small Mister slept through the whole thing.

This quilt is for Miss K's babe.  I do not know if it is a boy or girl.  Unless the Tall Short Person wants it.  She did pick the fabrics!

Miss Lillian's quilt is delivered

I finished the binding on Miss Lillian's quilt and got it delivered this weekend.

I know she is much to little to appreciate it yet, except maybe for the bright colors.  But Mama liked it!  Both sides.  Both families sat and chatted a while after the delivery.  A nice close to the weekend.

And thanks Grandma for the book!

pining and stitching

After I got the back of the quilt done, I got to pining.  Pinned the whole quilt.  I have learned that it is really best to start from the middle and work your way out.  In the beginning, it feels like the pining is going very rapidly, but by the edges I always start to wonder how much longer it will take.

Once all the pining is done, the stitching starts.  With where my head is right now, this is about where my thought process is.  The nose running away from me appears to have turned into an ear infection and maybe even a summer cold.  I feel like crud but a bit of stitching helps.  I feel bad about being in the kitchen with the amount of sneezing that is going on!

a bit of work done this weekend

I took a childrens Benadryl after work today.  I can feel it making me loopy.  I am not sure that allergies are my problem but something is making my nose runaway with me.  I am hoping that I feel better soon.

I finished this quilt back this weekend.  It has LOTS of color.  It is growing on me as I work with it.
