socks are done!

Last week for blogging was interesting.  There was the days where the internet did not work and I lost patience.  And then we went camping.  There was no internet then.  But I do admit that I was happy to have many less electronics around.  My Beloved and I went for walks and talked and drank gallons of tea.

I did finish the pair of socks I have been working on for my beloved.  Even though i followed the same pattern for each one, they have turned out a different size.  When I told him, he just laughed.  He was impressed that I actually finished them after not having knitted for twenty five years.  I was actually surprised how restful I found them to knit.  I want to make some stockings for myself but I have a feeling that is going to be interesting in its own right!

Now, my Beloved just has to be home to try them on.  He is way over worked currently and very missed!

OvO

Tonight we celebrated my birthday.  Or I received my Christmas present.  Or you could say both.  We went to OvO by Cirque De Sole.  It was absolutely fabulous!  With a group who has a tendency to be adrenaline junkies, I think many ideas were given and the wishes for a "recreation room."  The laughter, the smiles, and the joy are huge.

My beloved family:  Thank you so much!

diapers

Like I said, there are babies coming in my life.  I am a firm believer in cloth diapers for babies.

Joann's was having a very nice sale on their flannel so I picked up many yards.  I went through my fabric stash for more.  Amanda Soule's Handmade Home has directions for making prefolds.  The size to cut for littles is 13 inches by 12 inches with a four by thirteen inch soaker in the middle.  For toddlers, it is 17" by 20" with a soaker down the center that is 6" by 20".  I changed it a bit by putting four layers of soaker and four layers of larger diaper fabric together.

You put the soaker down the middle with two larger pieces of fabric on each side.

Then you stitch that in and then around the edges.  I do not have a serger or a zig zag stitch so I just ran stitching twice around the edges.  It actually works quite well.  Many more of these to make but they will be fun!

happy dress

It was a quiet day.  Both at work and at home.  Home was not as quiet as work though.  I went to the library.  I wove.  That is coming along nicely.  I am waiting for an audiobook that I wish to weave to.  I find the background noise is quiet nice.  I made myself a simple dinner since my Beloved was at work.

And I finished a dress.  This dress has been waiting for buttons and buttonholes for almost two weeks now.  It is one of my favorite styles.  My family calls this a frontier dress but it is a bit more fitted then what was first called the frontier dress.  It is a very old Simplicity pattern.  But I have changed the sleeve and length.  I have made the bodice more fitted.  I have also added a collar from my Beloved's frontier shirt.  The best part truly is that it goes to my ankles if not toes.  I love that length.  It will be lovely to wear tomorrow.

saturday errands

I have been going to the farmer's market on Saturdays on my bicycle.  I have been going for milk.  I am working on the yogurt recipe.  My Beloved likes thick yogurt and mine is not consistently thick.  I keep working on it but the yogurt keeps getting eaten!  When I get it consistent, I will post again.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

One of the things I have been buying myself is flowers.  I love flowers and they brighten my kitchen so.  Such a simple treat.
