modifications of the nightgown

My Mom requested some changes to the nightgowns I was making here.  She seemed to like the length but wanted sleeves and a yoke.  So I am trying something new.

I hope it fits and the sleeves work.  She needs here arms covered to sleep well.  I need the area between my shoulder blades.  Everyone gets cold differently.

I have been baking Christmas cookies just like normal but this year I have had a new cookie apprentice.  He sits on my back in a backpack.  He wants to stir and measure.  He takes a taste every now and then.  This face is from molasses from the molasses crinckles I make.  He usually ends up falling asleep on my back so I have a bit of weight training going on as well.  It has been fun and there is much joy!  He likes to help with every task.

a little bit of Christmas

I thought I would share a little bit of our simple Christmas.  The roses are drying now but the tree is still pretty.  I was hoping for some white lights but I waited too long.  The ones we had are very dead.

I finished another pair of pajama points.  Warm and cosy with pockets.  For my Aunt.  I think we all need a little bit of warm and cozy right now.  I spent about three hours ironing fabric today.  Mostly because it will make more stitching later eaiser but also because I needed to do a quiet repetitive task.  Saying prayers as the Desert Fathers did, in my daily tasks.

starting pajama pants

It is definitely the year for pants.  I finished up Small Mister's but now it is time for the rest of the family.  I found out they were wished for when we did Thanksgiving as a family.  It is surprising what the day after Thanksgiving breakfast conversation is like.

My Sister said cute but like here so I hope these fill the bill.

Pockets because you may need your id or cash for coffee with you.  I believe the drawstring is too long but I know she can change that if she wishes.  I think they turned out well.  I will send them with the multitudes of cookies I am making.  Or at least it feels like multitudes.

the best d**** fish tacos (according to my Beloved)

Leaving where we do, we have a few taco places.  We recently had a good one from Austin open their doors here, Torchy's.  They were highly recommened to us so we gave them a try.  We really liked them.  But every time I want tasty tacos, I do not wish to go out.  So I decided to give making my own a chance.  The title is a quote from my Beloved and he does it in a very strange voice.

These actually come together very easy.  You just have to do the bits.

fish tacos

1 batch handmade tortillas

1 batch cabbages

4 ounces salmon per person, skinless

2 to 4 tablespoons butter

a large pinch of salt

a large pinch of pepper.

Peheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.  Put the butter in a cast iron pan and put it into the oven to melt while the oven is preheating.  Once the butter is melted and the oven is hot, add the salmon.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Roast for about 7 minutes or until as done as you wish.  We like the rare side.

To put together, put a tortilla in your hand.  Add a chunk of salmon.  Add a couple tablespoons of cabbages.

Enjoy!

the last pair of pants for small mister

The plan had been that I would make Small Mister two pairs of pants for Christmas.  And a coat.  But there was this end of bolt piece of fabric that actually meant I could make three pairs of pants.  I have a tendency to pick up the last bits of a bolt if I can.  That last bit can become interesting things.  In this case, Small Mister gets three pairs of pants instead of two.

I just hope his Momma tries them on him!  Notice the orange them?  Small Mister really likes orange!
