sounds like rice krispies

I have been slowly quilting.  My shoulders sound like a bowl of rice krispies with milk when I am working.  Which means the slow part.  I am trying to be philosophical about it,  It is what it is.  But I have other projects I wish to work on!  Oh well.  Maybe I will get the chance to try a new recipe this weekend.  Savory or sweet?  Or one of each?  I need to do some printing too but small hands make that difficult.

And as much as I enjoy it, maybe I will get the quilting done so I can work on something else.....

mixed berry frozen yogurt

The next frozen yogurt my assistant and I made was mixed berry.  Just as yummy.  So yummy that this is the best picture of the yogurt I was able to take.  I did read this morning that you can use corn syrup instead of alcohol to keep frozen yogurt soft.  I will admit that I have not tried it.

Just yummy.

mixed berry frozen yogurt

10 ounces frozen mixed berries

2 cups yogurt

2/3 cup sugar

2 teaspoons raspberry vodka

Blend everything well.  Put in a freezer proof container.  Stir up every couple hours until frozen.  Enjoy.

I wish I had some of this for breakfast.

mango frozen yogurt

We have very much enjoyed homemade frozen yogurt.  Yes, we like plain frozen yogurt very much but sometimes a fruity mixture is very nice.  I had my Beloved pick the fruits we were going to try.

The first was mango.  It never hit a bowl it was so good.  And I thought it would last for more then one sitting.  I was so wrong.  It was very easy.  Yes, there is two teaspoons of alcohol in it but that lets it be a bit softer.  Without it, let the frozen yogurt sit out a bit to soften before enjoying.

mango frozen yogurt

10 ounces mango, peeled and sliced into chunks.  Frozen works well.

1 cup greek style yogurt.  I use a thick goat milk yogurt

2/3 cup sugar

2 teaspoon raspberry vodka (optional, this just keeps the yogurt softer.

Blend everything VERY well.  Pour into a container and put in the freezer.  Stir every couple hours to break up ice crystals.  Or just use your ice cream maker.  I do not have one of those fancy contraptions anymore.  Much too noisy!

Sooooo  good.

peanut butter

I came across a description of someone making chocolate peanut butter.  Reading the instructions, I was like "it is this easy to make peanut butter?"  Years ago I had tried to make peanut butter and it was just not pretty.  The trick here is a very high speed motor and time.

It is just letting it go.  Small Mister loves pushing the buttons for me and is a master peanut butter maker.

The boyos liked it so much, they started drizzling it on their pancakes!

peanut butter

peanuts - I used both a toffee peanut and a spanish peanut.  I made two batches.

Dump the peanuts in a food processor or a high powered blender.  Blend for one to three minutes depending on how many peanuts you have and how smooth you want the peanut butter.

The peanut butter will start as peanut bits.  Then it will start making peanut balls.  Or one big ball.  Do not stop.  Do not add oil.  Do not think something is wrong like my Beloved.  Just keep blending.  The peanut butter will start to smooth out.  This is when to start testing for the consistency you want.  I did not process it as long for the toffee peanut butter.  There are still some crunchy bits.  The spanish peanuts I processed longer and you could drizzle it.  It was very smooth.

I did not add any extra salt but you can.  You can add sugar or honey if you want something sweeter.  Or that chocolate.  My Beloved saw a chocolate covered curry cashew.  He thinks that could be interesting.

ice day

I had a day this last week that the office was closed due to ice.  There was ice and it hit the outer parts of town much harder then where we lived.  I would not have wanted to be on my bicycle in it.

With the office closed, Small Mister and I basted a quilt.  My shoulder is still giving me some grief.  Especially when I work on the stitching, but it is about taking it slow.  This was a slow process.  I am not really sure how much help Small Mister was.  I found a safety pin in a very odd place as I was sewing.  But it got done.  It was a nice use of my time not sitting at my desk.
