quilt back

For C and H's quilt, the back is done.  I decided it needed to be brighter because H likes bright colors.  I also played with stripes.

Small Mister helped me with the stitching which was interesting.  He sat on my feet so he could work the treadle.  That was the first time that ever happened.  It makes it much more difficult to work my sewing machine.

I am actually excited about this quilt back and curious how it is all going to turn out.

just needs to be mailed

A friend of ours has been going through a lot of change.  Then, he gave away his most favorite Trader Joe's shopping bag because a ladies paper bag broke.  I decided to make him a new shopping bag.  He is also allergic to wool which means I cannot make him anything fuzzy.

I feel like I have gotten the measurements right on the shopping bags I make.  The pockets took a while.  Now they are just about the right size.

I really love these fabrics, geometric and feathers.  I am working on the squares for a quilt for a small boy and I want to make sure that there are both of these fabrics in that quilt.

I just need to get a flat rate envelope and the bag will be on its way.  Hopefully, it will not be raining at lunch tomorrow and I can do that.

all stitched together

The quilt top I am working on is all stitched together.  It felt like it came together much faster then normal.  Maybe it was just a need to be at the sewing machine.  The rain kept me out of the garden too.  My garden has a tendency to take the boots off my feet when it has rained this much.  I may have lost the lavender I planted as well.  Too much water.

Tomorrow, I may get a chance to be in the garden.  Rain is in the forecast again so who knows!  If it does rain, maybe I will get the back put together.  Even with Small Mister helping most days, it moves quickly.  He likes to pull the pins out while I am stitching.

a need

I have a need to be here or some where similar.  All types of difficult are going to start at work next week.

Soon.  Very soon.  But there will not be this much snow.

teaching

The team I work on in the office has three women.  I am included in that three.  The other two have both had surgery recently.  One will have another.  I gave them both shawls I crocheted in the path.  The one who is going to have surgery again is planning on taking it with her on her return to the hospital.

The gifting of the shawls started a whole conversation about yarn and how it was made.  I brought up youtube videos on spinning but this morning I brought in my favorite Turkish spindle and the alpaca fiber the boyos picked out.  It was a quick lesson on how to make yarn because we all had other tasks to do.  Miss B said it looked much easier then it was.  She gave it a try.

Having my spindle and fiber at work is not a very good thing.  It calls to me while it sits in the drawer.
