pina colada

I had gone to a wedding recently where the drink of the night was a pina colada.  I actually liked it which was a surprise.  I decided to try making it this weekend.  Now, I will say that I like my rum better in a mojito but this was tasty!

And I am still loving my Christmas glasses!

pina colada

2 parts pineapple juice

2 parts coco cream (I used Goya)

1 part dark rum

Mix all together well or shake well.  Pour over ice.

Just a nice change.

sashiko

I have been playing with Japanese sashiko when I have been doing patching lately.  I have needle and thread, bits of linen and one of my darning eggs.  I sit and stitch.

My Beloved work pants always start to wear out on the legs somewhere.  He is just hard on clothes.  But not a fan of shopping, even if that is a thrift store.  He gets the same upset whether it is a pair of thrift store pants that are ripping to shreds or a pair of concealed carry pants he spent much more on.  This bit of mending is fun for me because I get to learn something new.  He likes it because his pants last longer.

It did take me a little bit to figure it out though.  The darning egg was the breakthrough!  I have more pants to mend when they are clean.  And that patch in the picture?  It and the pants are the same color I noticed when I took dinner out to the shop and ate with the boyos.  Knife makers make dirt.  Knives are the by product.

tailless bunnies

Last weekend I realized that next weekend is Easter.  Usually I am much better and not having Easter sneak up on me.  I was born on Easter Sunday and I could probably say it has been the only Easter service my Mom ever missed.  I could be wrong but it has not been many.  There is usually a very nice dinner involved too.  It is also my best friend's Mom's favorite holiday, even though she is Muslim.  So I have multiple reasons why I am aware of when Easter is.  This year it got away from me.  And this year I needed to send a box!

It was a weekend where I was not really leaving the house.  I had seen a tutorial for making bunnies from knitted squares.  I decided to do it with crochet.  I pulled out yarn I made and crocheted a base of 30 single stitches.  I just worked single crochet until I made a square.

Then I got out the needle and thread, a bit of spinning fiber and put the bunny together following the proportions on the tutorial.

I crocheted the ears by starting off with five or six single crochet.  I made the same number of rows and then decreased one until I was down to one stitch.  Two just like that!

I realized as I was looking at these pictures I fogot the tails!  Oh well.

They are in a box, traveling to Koda Bear and the Tall Short Person.  Even without tails they are awfully cute.

peanut butter sauce

In our travels across country, I have always liked stopping at Braum's.  They have small sundaes and for a time, they had a peanut butter chocolate sundae I really liked.  The last time we stopped, they no longer were making it.  Also, the closest Braum's is about two hundred miles away.  This weekend I decided I needed one.

Vanilla ice cream.  Check.  Chocolate sauce.  Check.  Peanut butter sauce.  Wait a minute!  The recipe is not on my blog.  What?  Did not I make this already?   I must remedy!  So I am writing it down for next time.  Because I am silly like that and use my own blog for recipes.  Why not?

peanut butter sauce

Note:  I cut this in recipe in quarters because it is a very sometimes thing.  It is based on Martha Stewart's recipe but I tweaked.

1 cup peanut butter

3/4 cup whole milk

1/3 cup brown sugar

Put everything in a pan.  Heat over low heat until the sugar is dissolved.  Do not heat too long because it will thicken.

in the garden today

It has been a creative week this week but not an excitingly creative week.  I have wanted to spin and I have.  I am about to start a sweater I want because I have  a bit of yarn of the type I want for the sweater.  But not enough because I am still spinning!

There was a little stitching going on as well.  But I did not get anything finished.  Maybe today?  Maybe not.

I spent time in my garden this morning.  The rains have stopped and the ground has dried up enough that I do not sink to my knees in mud.  It does not help that my much boots are on the mountain.

Because of the flower junkie I am, I ordered more seeds.  They need a place to go.  The plan is to do some more digging tomorrow and plant seeds.  Not very exciting but joyful!

From my garden.  They do make me smile so!
