my sunshine sweater

I finished my sunshine sweater today.  I chose hooks instead of metal or handmade buttons but I can always change that if I wish.

This is one  of the few good shots of it because I was twirling.  I also had it on crooked.  I based it off the sweater I made for my Beloved with out the color changes and I made it a cardigan instead of a pullover.  I like that there are no seams.

It is so soft. I was hoping to have it finished so I can take it on our travels.  And I did!  It will be so very lovely for our mountain.

making cards

After gardening on Sunday and before skating, I made birthday and mother day cards.  My Grandmother is going to be 103 in the next week so I decided to make her a card.  I also made my Mom and the Tall Short Person a Mother's day card.  Out came the paper, scissors, and glue.  I watched MotoGP with my Beloved while I was working on these.  I also got a chance to work on my calligraphy.

I did have I bit of fun.  I hope they like them.

Sunday morning

Sunday morning I woke up with a very little bit of shoulder pain.  Since I have chronic pain, my little bit of pain might different then yours but I was able to spend time in the garden.  Not just a few minutes.  Not just a time half hour.  I turned off the timer and worked in the garden until I felt like it was time to go in.  A hour and a half.  I have not been able to do that all year so far.  I was able to clear the side walk of all the over hanging flowers.  I got more seeds spread and more weeds dug out.  It felt so good.

I cut a few flowers and brought them into the kitchen.  I put them above the sink and look at them while I do dishes.  I enjoy them so.

my new deck came!

My new skateboard deck got delivered today while I was at work.  My Beloved sent me pictures but it is so much prettier in person.

We went to Carve and the guys there set it up for me.  I walked through the door with it and it was immediately taken out of my hands and drooled over.  We had trucks and wheels and they put them on.  Clayton bounced on it and thought it was sweet.  Clayton's sister loved it.  I was unwilling to ride it in the shop because I hurt myself a bit last time I did that.

But Scott is the reason my shoulders are so much better.  He had wonderful ideas.  He also thought the deck was beautiful workmanship.

I did not have time to try it out tonight.  The street was too busy after work.  I am hoping I will have some time before the travels start again.

the mint from the garden

My mint is growing!  I think I am the only person i know who can actually kill mint.  I started this plot with a batch from the grocery store that I was keeping in a jar of water to keep fresh.  It rooted.  I planted it and I am so please.  Every time I walk out to the garden there is more.  I would much rather have lots and lots of mint instead of grass.

My Beloved believes the true use of mint is for mojitos.  They are a favorite.  And an easy recipe when you have mint.  We actually start with a simple syrup that the mint is infused in.  It makes life so much easier.

mojito

2 ounces mint infused simple syrup

2 ounces rum (we use dark, flavorful rum)

2 lime wedges

ice

soda water

Mix the rum and simple syrup together.  Squeeze in the lime.  Mix well.  Pour over ice in a large glass.  Add soda water.  Stir.

Yum!

mint simple syrup

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

mint leaves, a handful (1/4 cup?)

Put the water, sugar, and mint in a pan.  Put the pan on the stove and bring to a boil.  Let boil one minute.  Remove from the heat and let sit for at least 30 minutes.  The longer it sits, the stronger the mint.
