For Miss C

I finished another shawl at work. I push a button and wait.  While I do that I crochet.  1500 meters of yarn later and Miss C will has a shawl.  I just have to mail it.

It is a good size for keeping the neck and shoulders warm.  A bit of a throw over a dress.  She lives in Tennessee so there is that A/C thing going on during most of the summer.  Where you just need a bit of something to keep the chill off.

I have one more shawl to make for someone.  I pulled out my knitting because I realized it will never be finished.  I am thinking about making a stripped shawl with sock yarn.  Shawls are good for work because I do not have to pay much attention.

I just need an address now.

a bit of pajama making

I seem to be in a bit of a pajama making mode.  Actually, I am still sewing for Christmas but the boyos all appreciate soft pants at any time.  This time Koda Bear and Poppa Bear are matching.  Since Koda Bear already has pajama pants made for him, I finished Poppa Bear's first.

It really does not take that long to put a pair of pajama pants together.  All done and time to work on Koda Bear's.  And get a box read to ship.

There are still a few pair of pajama pants to be made.  And a couple flannel dresses for me.  The real question is do I make a flannel dress for the wedding I am attending on Saturday or a silk dress.  It is supposed to be cool enough flannel but warm enough for silk.  It is that time of year.

one done, two to go

I got a little work done in my garden this weekend.  I was able to pick a few flowers and they are brightening my kitchen now.  I have missed flowers in the house and in the garden.

I go the biggest bed of my garden dug.  There are two more beds still to be dug.  Blanket flowers and peppers got moved and replanted.  I have a broccoli that weathered the winter and almost ready to pick.  I saved a carrot that was flowering just because I liked the flowers so much.  I really am a flower junky.

And a seed junky.  I planted vegetables and flowers.  Broadcasting all over the bed.  But it has rained so hard for the last twenty four hours I wonder if there are any seeds left or if they are too deep because of how hard it rained.  I have more seeds to plant so I may broadcast again once the flash flood warnings are over and the hard rains recede.

Flowers and vegetables with more flower seeds ordered.  Yes, flower junky.

to be kind of the same

I had a bit of extra flannel from the making of my Beloved's flannel shirt.  I asked Koda Bear if he wanted a shirt to match his Grandpa's or pajama pants.  He said pajama pants.

They turned out well.  I did make them a bit big for growing room.  I will have to check with the Tall Short Person on addresses but they should be in the mail this week.

There are more pajama pants being made.  The boys seem to want them because they are so warm and cozy.  I would make myself a flannel dress but I am little crazy like that.  I have a piece of fabric that may become a dress for a wedding I am going to next week.  I cannot remember if it is flannel or not.  I do think it is but I need to go through the stack to find out.  I have been a bit down and a bit cold.  Warm cozy flannel seems to help both.

sourdough chocolate chip cookies

Recently, my Beloved asked me for sourdough chocolate chip cookies.  I put it on my chalkboard and pondered.  I bought some butter.  I found some time.  I gave it a try.

The boyos wonder why all chocolate chip cookies are not sourdough now.  All the boyos except Koda Bear have tried these and the cookies disappear quickly.  I have been letting the cookie dough sit in the refrigerator and only baking a dozen at a time.  The flavor deepens a bit every day.  I would suggest giving these a try.

sourdough chocolate chip cookies

sourdough starter

1 cup flour

3/4 cup water

1 cup butter

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

2 1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup chocolate chips (or as many as you like)

About 8 to 12 hours before you mix the cookie dough, mix the starter, 1 cup flour, and water together in a medium bowl.  Cover and let get bubbly in a warm place.  Take a bit out for next time.

In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugars, and vanilla together.  Scrape in the starter and egg.  Mix well.  Add the flour, baking soda, and salt.  Mix well.  Mix in the chocolate chips.

Put in a container that you can seal and put in the refrigerator for at least twenty four hours.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.  Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.  Drop teaspoons of dough on the baking sheet.  Bake for 8 to 10 minutes are until golden.  Let cool about five minutes before trying to take them off the sheet.

They are really nice with a cup of tea.

It is the type of week I have had.  A cup of tea and cookies after work have been needed.
